The Essence submission was presented for OMG at the recent meeting in San Francisco on Wednesday November 12th. No other submissions were presented so Essence is well in progress to become a standard. A vote for an immediate adoption directly at the meeting was almost completed. The Essence submission got 73% of the required 75% votes for immediate adoption. A number of constructive comments to align Essence with other OMG standards and OMG standard writing procedures was proposed. The outcome was a new revised submission date for February 2013 to allow for incorporation of all good feedback to create the best possible standard.
The SEMAT team will start planning this work already today and keep you posted on what will be done. We are all encouraged by the strong support the Essence have received, and the current improvements should ensure a better standard still within the original timeline.
