Making the Most of What You Already Have
It is not necessary to spend a lot of money to create a fun backyard for dogs. Most, if not all, of the materials you'll need to make your own dog park are probably already in your home, especially if you have children. Put up a splash pool for your dog in an empty kiddie pool, or set up your backyard fountain for his amusement. Has your child outgrown his or her sandbox? Fill it with dirt and let your pet dig till he's satisfied. Make a dog obstacle course out of an old hula hoop, a rubber backyard slide, cardboard boxes, old tires, rain barrels, and discarded hula hoops. Bring your imagination to life! Just be sure any materials you use don't have any sharp edges, splinters, or small pieces that could break off and cause choking.
With some careful planning, a little effort, and a lot of inventiveness, you can turn your dog playground equipment backyard into a dog-friendly playground where your dog will enjoy spending his days – without having to go anywhere. It will also allow you more time to spend playing with your adorable canine companion, and you can tailor your DIY dog park to your own requirements and interests.
